Prayer 2.0

The “official” Prayer 2.0 website resides at http://prayer2.net/, and there is more information about it there. However since this is meant to be my “holding” blog, to encompass anything else that I do, I thought it a good idea to have a page about Prayer 2.0 here as well.

Before going into the contextual reasoning behind it - of which there is probably about a thesis worth of content - I’ll just explain the bricks and mortar version of how it works.

The website has a HTML form (like any other web form you see) on it, which asks the user for their name and email address. They also leave a short (or long) message, this is their “Prayer 2.0″. All of these short messages, or prayers, are then emailed out to the other users of the website. Anyone who leaves a Prayer will also receive the messages through their email. Simple: users leave their email addresses and a short message. Their message will be sent to others, others messages will be sent to them.

As yet the project is very young, it has actually been running for about 2 weeks, and was only conceived about a month ago (at the time of writing). Here is an excerpt from a Prayer 2.0;

From: seren dip on Nov 26th

Nov 26th

I have a massive wish inside me. A really massive wish. It’s a good, happy wish. Thinking about it makes my belly feel full of stars.

There’s no point praying to non existent God to help with my wish. But *you* might be able to send a portion of positive energy into the ether which maybe, just possibly, could give my wish a push in the right direction.

Go on. Do it. Close your eyes. Count to three. Open your eyes and blow your will into my wish.
